Multi-Generational Living - Cressy & Everett Real Estate

When you're looking to buy a home, there are plenty of things to think about. Not the least of which is whether or not you want a home that can accommodate your parents, grandparents, or even your kids years down the road if necessary. We always hope that our elders and children live long, healthy lives, but there are times where they need help from family members.

Our real estate agents understand the challenges to multi-generational homebuyers, so we've put together these five tips for buying with a multi-generational focus.

  1. Why Consider Multi-Generational Living?
You never really know what's waiting around the corner, but keeping a close eye on what's happening currently with both your family, as well as economic conditions, can help you buy now for later.

Multi-generational homes have been around for decades, but the market crash of 2008 made them a mainstay in the housing industry. As the housing market plummeted, more and more families were forced into single homes. Parents moved in with children, grandparents moved in with grandchildren, and children moved in with both.

All of that to say, know what you may be in for based on your family's dynamics.

South Bend Bakeries - Cressy & Everett Real Estate

Homer Simpson has a lot of peculiar ideas, but his love of donuts is one we heartily endorse. Our real estate agents can't wait to celebrate National Cream-Filled Donut Day on Saturday, September 14 with a sweet treat from one of these delectable donut shops in the South Bend area. Which flavor will you choose?

  1. West End Bakery - 414 W. 7th St., Mishawaka 46544
When a bakery has been in business for more than 90 years, they must be pretty good at what they do. Adolf and Mary Fobe opened West End Bakery in 1928 and their grandson Greg carries on their tradition today, not far from Mishawaka homes for sale. Generations of local families have turned to West End Bakery for apple fritters, chocolate-glazed donuts, and other baked treats as well as their specialty wedding and birthday cakes. Hours at West End Bakery are 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day but Sunday.

Smart Home Upgrades for Home Sellers - Cressy & Everett Real Estate

You've remodeled the bathrooms, upgraded the kitchen and put up a fresh coat of paint on every wall. Your landscape is lush, your garage door is brand new and your home's curb appeal is enough to catch the eye of any passerby. What more could a prospective buyer ask for when looking at South Bend homes for sale?

Although the traditional advice for home sellers preparing to list their property has always revolved around updating the kitchen, bathrooms, and exterior, today's real estate market is full of buyers who crave a contemporary upgrade that requires much more than new windows and doors.

Technology from Wall to Wall

Technology has been integrated into nearly every aspect of our lives, including our homes. Products small and large now come with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth capabilities. Appliances and devices are designed with complex computer systems that enable us to control these resources by voice, with a single touch, or even remotely from miles away. These innovations dramatically change the way we engage and interact with our homes.
